If you have been practising Yoga for a while now, you might be experiencing only half of the practice and just some of the benefits that are available to you.
Yin Yoga is the other half.
Yin versus Yang
Yin and Yang are relative terms; they describe the 2 sides of existence. Like 2 sides of a coin, yin cannot exist without yang, nor yang without yin. They complement each other.
Dark / Light
Cold / Hot
Water / Fire
Moon / Sun
Female / Male
Passive / Active
Night / Day
Yin Yoga can be hidden inside a few softer styles such as restorative yoga or some meditation classes. However it is NOT restorative Yoga.
Yin gives you the chance to develop enhanced health for the whole body, heart and mind , working into the deeper tissues of the body.
Some students initially can find this style of yoga quite passive, or soft, even boring, but they quickly discover that it can be quite challenging due to the long duration of each pose.
Yin Yoga is simple but not Easy! Poses are typically held between 3- 5 minutes. After you have experienced this, even just once, you will realise that you have been doing only half of the asana practice.
