Porridge doesn’t have to be that bowl of slop Oliver Twist was served so often!

Whole grain porridge oats have a host of nutritional benefits and are extremely versatile, with many recipes that will be making you shout ‘please sir, can I have some more…!!’

Reasons to eat them:

  • Oats are high in fibre which can improve digestion, reduce cholesterol and prevent heart disease.

  • Due to their high fibre content, oats can relieve constipation.

  • Oats are very filling. They slow down the emptying process of the stomach and increase the production of the satiety hormone.

  • The whole grains in porridge consist of soluble and insoluble fibre. The soluble fibre helps in lowering your glucose (sugar) levels whereas insoluble fibre encourages waste to move through our digestive tract.

  • Oats are packed full of vitamins, minerals and antioxidants, they are actually one of the most balanced and nutrient-dense foods you can eat. They can help boost your immune system and fight infection.

  • Wholegrain oats are a strong source of antioxidants.
