Coming from a highly physical background in the Arts, Clare’s approach to massage and body work is both instinctual and and grounded in her knowledge and approach.
Her training includes Thai Massage (Wat Po trained), Sports and remedial massage – using advanced techniques – Myofasical Release, Deep tissue, Swedish, Pregnancy massage, Natural Face Lift massage and Aromatherapy massage – blending for individuals and using her own brand Grace Within. She is also currently training in Cancer massage.
Her interests are in injury prevention. Her aim, whether it’s for relaxation or a specific issue, is to open and relax the body. To ensure every client leaves with a long-term and immediate benefit.
Deep Tissue – if you’re suffering from tensions and aches that cannot be solved by a classic Swedish massage then a deep tissue massage may be what you need. The pressure is stronger and we can concentrate on problematic areas. Sometimes this might be a little bit uncomfortable – but the results are always worth it, helping alleviate pain and flexibility in the long term!
Neuromuscular Therapy (NMT) is a specialised form of deep tissue massage in which digital pressure and friction are used to release areas of strain in the muscle. These areas of strain are called tender or trigger points and are the cause of muscular pain symptoms.
In the last 60 years, neuromuscular therapy (NMT) has emerged as a significant way to assess, treat and prevent soft-tissue injuries and chronic pain. Today, NMT is widely used not only in the treatment rooms of massage therapy but also in occupational therapy, physical therapy, nursing, dentistry, chiropractic, osteopathic and physical medicine clinics worldwide.
Myofascial Release (MFR) focuses on the soft tissue dysfunction, while Cranial and Sacral Release, balance the ebb and flow of the Cranial Sacral Fluid that surrounds the central nervous system. Our bodies are filled with Fascia, it covers us from head to toe. It’s what connects and holds us together. And it has memory.
Often known as ‘the missing link’ in body work, this is a quick & powerful way of releasing pain, tension, trauma and restrictions within the connective tissue, right down to cellular level.
In Greek ‘Myo’ means muscle and ‘fascia’ means band. It’s like a 3D body stocking that weaves its way through the body from head to toe. Like a spiders web, it surrounds and penetrates every muscle, bone, artery, vein, nerve and internal organs.
Trigger point therapy (TPT) is a bodywork technique that involves working through the body, detecting and releasing pain through the application of pressure to tender muscle tissue in order to relieve pain and dysfunction in other parts of the body.
Natural Facelift – a deeply relaxing massage that works from the shoulders to the tip of the head. This massage acts as a natural facelift by releasing, relaxing and reducing muscle tension that tends to get into holding patterns as a result of emotional stress and habits. Using Reflexology and pressure points on the face, that effect and aid the rest of the body, while we retrain the muscles in the face to stay lifted and firm. This is a holistic treatment and not a beauty treatment.
