Today we have the lovely Antarma with us in Studio 1. If you haven’t yet been to one of his classes, you are missing out. Music, Mantra and Meditation will transport you to a land of pure bliss!!
Describe your morning routine…
Morning routine starts with connecting to the Source of Life. Sitting up straight in bed before getting up, some meditation with mantras through the different Chakras and petals.
Then some sun salutes (Surya Namaskar) and a couple of other Asanas, then a shower. I conduct morning ‘Puja’ offerings with my mantra lamp, incense and fruit flowers. This can take anything from 10 minutes to 4 hours.
What first drew you to yoga and meditation?
I was first drawn to Yoga through meeting someone who was very empowered energetically and I knew that whatever he knew I wanted to know! I have been doing this practice for 17 years since I was 13 years old.
I have been teaching and sharing music and meditation for around 10 years in various settings, such as retreats, events, community groups and schools nurseries.
Do you find much time for your own practice?
Personal practice is very important as it is from that space of being connected to the source that it is able to overflow and share to others.
What motivates you?
I am motivated by my Teachers, Guru’s and also by hearing feedback that the music and mediation I share at classes and events has inspired people to master their fears, depressions and stresses, and live in a more relaxed joyful and peaceful way.
What is your philosophy?
Philosophy is not a word I would usually choose. Maybe more like a ‘Way of life’. I am inspired by the Sanatan Dharma tradition. Which means the Eternal way. From This tradition Vedas, Tantras and Yoga all spring from. Most of us know Yoga as stretching, and that is an important part of course, so the body can be flexible, yet the traditional meaning of Yoga is ‘The Union of the Limited Separate identity with the Unlimited Universal Self’. Stretching, Breathing, Chanting,Meditation and Offering are all different Techniques to support this goal.
If you could send out just one message to your students, what would it be?
If I can send one message out to the lovely people who come to sit in the classes, it’s one that they will have heard before during the class, yet we all myself very much included need constant reminders of it….Dissolve all stresses and worries into the Endless Source of Energy within the Body.
Antarma will be teaching a class on the Tuesday 20th of February at Studio 4. You don’t want to miss out!
