Amy offers Deep Tissue Massage, Pregnancy & TMJ (treatment for jaw pain)
Every treatment starts with a consultation, an important process to help understand your needs and how your body is used on a daily basis, it’s also a chance for you to ask any questions and establish your goals of the treatment.
Amy takes time to personalise every treatment to your individual requirements. A warm approach with a wealth of knowledge, you will most certainly be in safe hands having a treatment with her.
Deep Tissue Massage
Deep Tissue Massage is a great option for those looking to treat chronic aches and pains, postural tensions and/or support injury management. As well as working remedially I really believe in the power of relaxation, which involves creating a welcoming and cosy environment in which to be treated. As a result my treatments aim for a balance between remedial and relaxation work. Calming the nervous system has a positive affect on muscle and fascial tissue, so the two should go hand in hand.
Using traditional deep tissue techniques, working with soft tissue and fascial release, trigger point therapy and, where I feel it beneficial, cupping massage. I focus on outcome oriented treatments i.e. working towards achievable goals such as improving mobility, reducing muscular tension and pain and decreasing stress levels.
Whether you are looking for a timeout from a hectic lifestyle or a stressful period in your life and need to create time for self-care, or whether you have a niggling injury and/or chronic pains that you’ve been dealing with for years, my Deep Tissue treatments incorporate a range of approaches to help you achieve your goals.
“Simply the best massage that I have ever received. Amy Moffat gives an incredible deep tissue massage and takes time to personalise it to your individual requirements. Professional and friendly, I would not hesitate in recommending her.”

TMJ / TMD TREATMENT FOR JAW PAIN
TMJ dysfunction, sometimes referred to as TMD, is an umbrella term for a range of symptoms relating to problems with the jaw, aka the Temporomandibular Joint. These symptoms can include: Pain when chewing food – Bruxism (grinding of the teeth) – Tenderness in the joint on touch or movement – Limited range of movement – Headaches / Migraines – Tinnitus or ear pain – Undiagnosed toothache – Tight neck and shoulders – Visual disturbances.
TMD affects one in four of us, unsurprisingly seeing as the TMJ is one of the most frequently used joints in the body. Massage Therapists are usually the last point of call for TMJ sufferers, after the dentist and/or doctor. But there are so many great massage techniques that can be used to treat TMJ symptoms – and causes – easily and effectively.
As with all treatments we begin with a consultation and – specifically for TMJ – an assessment of the jaw, followed by a postural assessment to understand what possible muscle imbalances could be influencing TMD. During the treatment I utilise soft tissue massage, trigger point therapy and fascial release to remove restrictions in the tissues and bring functionality back to the body. Treating in this non-invasive way reduces the need for traditional and sometimes extensive dental work, while also significantly reducing pain. Many clients have reported significant progress after three/four successive appointments, many feeling relief after the first session.
PREGNANCY MASSAGE
During pregnancy the female body goes through numerous muscular, skeletal and hormonal changes which impact body and mind in a multitude of ways, such as adding extra tension to muscles as the body shape changes, putting pressure on joints, as well as causing emotional changes which can impact mood, sleep and anxiety levels.
After a thorough consultation we will assess your needs and focus on treating specific areas of pain or discomfort, whilst also working to relax the body and encourage you and baby to a place of wellbeing.
The beneficial knock on effects, on top of the obvious relief of muscular tensions, include the release of ‘feel good’ hormones from the mother which are passed on to the baby, as well as improved circulation which increases levels of nutrients moving to the womb, and helps remove metabolic toxins that mother and baby don’t need.
A combination of soft and deep tissue techniques, as well as lymphatic drainage to relieve swelling in the joints, are used in a relaxing and safe environment. I have successfully worked with women to relieve symptoms of symphysis pubis dysfunction (spd), increased back and shoulder pain as a result of increased weight bearing during pregnancy and leg cramps.
“I don’t think any ‘Mumma to be’ should have to go through pregnancy without the brilliance of Amy. Hands down the best massage I’ve had – it was tailored to my needs and was exactly what my body needed. Have slept so well and had all the happy hormones floating around since! I’ll definitely be back and can’t recommend her highly enough!”
