Gongs are like adaptogenic herbs. They work by “hacking” the stress response in the body, meeting people at THEIR level of need whether it be physical, emotional or spiritual.
They are a powerful spiritual tool – fantastic at detoxing- clearing excess negative energy, pain and mental chatter. Gongs create an ocean of sound that is profoundly relaxing; a state which activates the parasympathetic nervous system. Balancing the over-amped, over-taxed sympathetic nervous system… So, even if the only benefit of a gong bath was relaxation, it is a scientifically valid healing modality.
Gong meditation is a very ancient technique from Asia, a complete sound bath that produces an amazing sense of well-being through the vibration of all the water within the body (our bodies are 80% water).
The sound vibrations emitted by gongs, send signals that are interpreted at the biological, energetic and emotional levels, directing the cells to develop in a homeostatic rather than unbalanced manner.
Gong meditation helps to heal your resting nervous system, as well as helping you to tackle life on a day to day basis by relieving tension and quieting the mind. While you’ll feel deeply relaxed during the class, some people will also find it helps them to relax outside of the session, sleep better and deal with stress more easily. Gong Baths bring an intense sense of well-being and re-stabilize the balance of energies. Simply put, it’s a form of sound therapy in which a gong is played to aid healing.
Aysha is back from her travels and leads a Gong Bath + Meditation class every Wednesday night at 7.30 pm.
Aysha “I am a healing space creator.
With sessions include a unique blend of breath work, harmonic resonance and sound. The sacred space I create with my work is supported with my gong.”
“There is no better feeling than helping people relax and release in my class. I write guided meditation to help aid the journey of the session and enjoy watching attendees experience the healing they receive.”
