The temperature has dropped over the last few days and we’ve been feeling the cold, especially in the mornings. We’ve been needing that extra bit of nurturing in the mornings and we’ve found that making a warming, spicy turmeric latte has hit the spot and set us up for the day. Warm, comforting, and satisfying, our golden milk recipe has everything needed to combat the morning blues.
Save you’re self some time and make up a large batch of the spice mix so that all you have to do is heat it up in the morning (or whenever you fancy drinking it)
Ingredients for batch spice mix:
200g ground turmeric
70g ground ginger
35g ground cinnamon
20g ground black pepper
20g ground cardamom
20g ground cloves
20g ground nutmeg
20g ground star anise
20g ground coriander
Mix all the spices into a large bowl. Stir and transfer into a large mason jar – ensure it is sealed with an airtight lid. Keep for up to 6 months.
Golden milk ingredients:
1/2 tbsp of the golden milk spice blend.
250 ml Coconut milk (or milk of choice)
1/2 tsp coconut oil
1/2 tsp of honey or maple syrup
In a saucepan, warm the milk over a medium heat. Take off just before it starts to boil and mix in the spice blend. Stir in coconut oil and sweetener. Pour into cup and sprinkle with a cinnamon. Enjoy x
