FAQ

What if I'm late?

We suggest you arrive 10 minutes before your class to allow yourself time to get changed, familiarise yourself with the studio and have a quick chat with our staff about your fitness levels and how to use the equipment.

We understand that things can happen that are out of your control, but we operate a no late comer policy.  This is to ensure the smooth running of the schedule and to prevent injury and also out of respect for teachers and students who may have somewhere else to be, so we need to make sure that we always start promptly.  As there is not always someone on reception, for everyone’s safety, we often lock the doors at the beginning of class.  This is why we suggest you get to the studio at least 10 minutes before the start of class, also to avoid your spot being given to a standby student, which we will do if you are not there at the start time of the class.  If you fail to arrive on time then our late cancellation policy will apply.

What is your late cancellation policy?

You may cancel your class/workshop booking, without charge, up to 12 hours before the start of the class that you have booked – class/workshop credit will be added back to your account for use within 6 months.

Any late cancellations or no-shows we will deduct the class credit from your Refinery 5 or 10 class pack, as if you had attended the class – they will not be refunded nor will you be able to transfer to another class.

If you are on an All Star Unlimited Monthly Membership and fail to cancel within the cancellation period stipulated above, you will incur a £5 charge on your next visit. Failure to show up on time or attend class will be marked as a no-show and will incur a £10 charge on your account which we require to be settled in order for you to continue to use your membership.

How do I suspend/terminate my membership?

If you are on a Monthly Unlimited or 8 a Month Membership, you are able to suspend up to twice a year.

Please note all memberships are subject to a minimum 2 month sign up period, after that you can terminate with a month’s notice in writing.  The membership will automatically renew every month if you don’t cancel.  Please email the studio info@therefinerye9.com if you wish to terminate.

How do I book my first class?

Once you have registered and created your Refinery account via our website or Mindbody directly,  you are ready to book your first time £8 session. To book simply click on CLASSES at the top left hand corner of the website, select studio and class type from the drop down menu and click BOOK to secure your space in the class of your choice. If the class you wish to take is currently showing as fully booked, simply click WAIT LIST. The system will know that you are booking a class for the first time and will charge £8 automatically. The rule is the same for the the introductory £30 unlimited offer.

Why isn’t the same type of class offered at the same time everyday?

We understand that some people like to workout at the same time, in the same way, with the same instructor (hopefully in different clothes) everyday, but at The Refinery we’re going to try and change that mindset. Our bodies love to find a rut and stay there. If you move your body in the same way, at the same time, everyday, you’re probably bored, and your body isn’t working as hard or effectively as it was when you first started that routine. You’re in a rut. One of our goals is to keep your body on its toes, so that it’s constantly having to adjust to what you’re doing. Cross-training your body is ideal for better fitness results.

What should I do before class when I get to the studio and what about after class?

BEFORE CLASS: Silence your phone and leave it with your things in the changing rooms. If you are a doctor or a parent and must keep your phone with you, keep it on silence and LEAVE THE ROOM TO TALK or TEXT. Put your belongings in the changing rooms and find a spot in class. If you are unsure where to go, just ask! Tell your instructor about any health conditions or injuries you have (even if you haven’t told anyone else). And if you have to leave early, try and find a spot near the door.

AFTER CLASS: Wipe off all equipment. Sweat is sexy on you, not on our equipment. And please put away any toys you take out!

What else should I know?

We are not a huge studio with a huge staff. Please help us out by wiping down and putting away any equipment you use. We also really love members who help keep the toilets and changing room clean. Please take all your belongings from the dressing room and restrooms after you use them. We have lockers in the changing rooms for you to store your stuff in during class. We are not responsible for lost items.

What can I use my Gift Card for?

Gift cards are valid for one year from purchase date and are for buying Classes, Memberships, Workshops, Trainings and Retail Products, NOT valid for therapies.

I am new to fitness class and yoga, what class should I go for?

We at the Refinery are very aware that some people are not used to using studios to get fit and some have never tried yoga and Pilates. So we have provided a varied mix of classes at all different levels so that we hope you will be able to find something that suits your needs and that you find both fun and exciting.

What happens if my favourite teacher is away?

They are more than likely on a well deserved break and we will always do our best to replace them with someone equally as brilliant, so don’t be shy to try 😉  However we may sometimes need to substitute a teacher at the last minute due to unforeseen circumstances.  In this instance, you reserve the right to cancel your reservation at any time, without charge.
