Clear your head …. 

With endless lists, deadlines and general life anxieties we all need a bit of time out to give our busy minds a break. A healthy mind can really contribute to a happy, healthy body! We highly recommend a meditation practice everyday. It can take some time to get into this habit and just like anything else it does take discipline however the benefits that come with a regular practice so worth it! You can begin with something as short as 5 mins. Just lie or sit still, focusing on your breathing. We’re big fans of Leo’s amazing app, Third Ear. It has some incredible meditations, gong baths & moon rituals. Try it out for yourself – you won’t be able to stop. 

 

Get moving … 

Moving your body is so important for your wellbeing ! It’s what we were made to do. The incredible reactions and the hormonal releases that happen when we exercise are vital in creating a healthy environment for your cells, which means a healthy mind/body for you! Exercise can be fun (have you been to our Barre class?) and does not have to mean that your heart is jumping out of your chest. Some days your body will be calling for something slow, maybe you just need a slow yin class, or a short walk around the park. Whatever it is, honour it, own it & give yourself exactly what you need. 

 

Love your body … 

Practicing self care is something that many of us are becoming more familiar with. Along with self care we also need to practice self love & that is loving yourself unconditionally. At the beginning of each week, write a few affirmations that you can keep in your tool belt to use throughout the week. Loving your body also brings up the topic of nutrition. Be aware of what you are putting inside your body. Are you feeding yourself with food that is providing your body with love ? We’re not saying that a takeaway and a glass of wine isn’t an act of love but just become more aware of the majority of foods that are going in and make sure your body loves them and can make use of them to create a happy and healthy body for you. 

 

Treat yourself … 

We all need a bit of TLC ! Having regular treatments (once a month counts as regular) can provide your body and mind with so many wonderful benefits. Just the simple act of touch lowers stress levels by a significant amount. Physical therapies can assists in reducing tension, stress, anxiety along with rebalancing your bodily systems while also targeting more specific conditions. We offer a wide range of therapies here at The Refinery. Why not mix it up this month and try something you have never experienced before – go on .. we dare you! 

 

Keep learning … 

Learning new things is a great way to boost hapiness, feelings of contentment and purpose. It keeps the brain ticking over and allows us to bring new opportunities into our lives. We have so much access to information that we are able to engage in. Pick up a new book, go to a workshop, start an evening class. Whatever it is, get that brain working on things that YOU want to know.
